ANOTHER School Shooting in America — Republicans "Thoughts & Prayers" Are NOT ENOUGH
I wish I were here to talk about anything else. But once again, America is reeling from another horrific tragedy — this time in Minnesota, where a mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School claimed the lives of two people and left 17 others injured — most of them children.
Let that sink in. Children, gunned down in their school. A place that should be a sanctuary of learning and safety turned into yet another crime scene. Parents sent their kids off to school this morning expecting to see them at dinner. Instead, too many families got the worst phone call imaginable.
And we all know what comes next: Republican leaders will offer “thoughts and prayers” at podiums… but then do nothing. Because to them, the Second Amendment is more sacred than a child’s life.
Before policy, we need to sit with the reality. Two lives lost. Seventeen injured. Families shattered. Children who will never grow up. Teachers who will never make it home. And a nation once again forced to ask: why does this keep happening here?
This isn’t about one school or one town. It’s about a uniquely American epidemic:
The U.S. has the highest gun death rate of any developed nation.
Firearms are now the leading cause of death for American adolescents — not cancer, not car accidents. Guns.
In 2022 alone, gun violence cost an estimated $557 billion in health care, lost productivity, and community trauma.
No other advanced nation accepts this level of carnage as “normal.”
These tragedies don’t only happen in schools. They’ve struck in:
A movie theater in Aurora.
A nightclub in Orlando.
A synagogue in Pittsburgh.
A concert in Las Vegas.
A church in Charleston.
A grocery store in Buffalo.
No space in America is untouched. Nowhere is safe.
Every time, Republicans try to shift blame: video games, movies, mental health. But the truth is simple: the problem is guns.
The ease of access to deadly weapons.
The legalization of assault rifles designed for war.
The refusal to enact common-sense reforms to keep guns out of dangerous hands.
The GOP is bought and paid for by the gun lobby. Their cowardice costs lives.
We already know what works:
Universal background checks.
A ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Red flag laws to temporarily remove guns from those who pose threats.
Safe storage laws to keep firearms away from children.
Federal funding for research, treating this as the public health crisis it is.
A majority of Americans — Democrats, Republicans, even gun owners — support these reforms. The only obstacle is politicians who care more about NRA donations than children’s lives.
So the question is: How many more?
How many more children must be buried before leaders act? How many more families must grieve before America says “enough”?
Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Action is needed.

We are the only developed nation that allows this to keep happening. Until leaders put lives above lobbying, the cycle of tragedy will continue. The time to act is now.
