Was There a "COVER-UP" of Biden’s Decline? Inside Jake Tapper’s Explosive New Book

The Josh Lafazan Show on YouTube - Episode 116

Welcome back to the Josh Lafazan Show — and today’s episode tackles one of the most talked-about controversies in American politics right now. We’re breaking down Jake Tapper’s explosive new book “Original Sin,” and the firestorm it has ignited in Washington — specifically around President Joe Biden’s cognitive health, the alleged cover-up by his inner circle, and the urgent national debate about age limits in government.

Tapper’s book, co-authored with Alex Thompson, lifts the veil on what appears to be a carefully constructed public image of President Biden — one that sharply contrasts with what was happening behind closed doors. According to Tapper, there are “two Joe Bidens”:
1️⃣ The Biden the American public got to know during his vice presidency — experienced, articulate, and politically sharp.
2️⃣ A “non-functioning” version of Biden who emerged in 2019 and 2020 — and whose decline reportedly accelerated once in office.

🔥 According to Rolling Stone, Original Sin alleges that Biden’s cognitive decline was not only visible, but far more severe behind the scenes — and that a coordinated effort was made by senior White House officials to hide it. Tapper says this “cover-up” began subtly: by accommodating Biden’s preference for note cards, teleprompters, and mid-day events. But over time, these crutches reportedly evolved into systematic shielding, even scripting internal Cabinet meetings and eliminating unscripted appearances.

📉 As Axios reports, the Biden campaign encountered serious problems filming even simple campaign videos. When they needed to record standard remarks for fundraisers or events, Biden often struggled — botching lines and losing his place. To cover this, two-camera setups were used to make jump-cut edits — a method more common in influencer content than presidential messaging. In one disturbing example, a closed-to-press “town hall” was staged with a friendly audience in April 2024, but the footage was ultimately deemed unusable because Biden appeared so visibly unwell.

💥 Perhaps most damning: Members of Congress who attended the White House Christmas party in December 2022 reportedly didn’t see the President again — in the flesh — until December 2023, and many were shocked by what they saw.

But this isn’t just a story about Biden — it’s a story about Jake Tapper himself. Tapper is now under fire for aggressively discrediting these very concerns during the 2024 campaign. In fact, he went so far as to publicly attack Lara Trump for raising them — a moment he now regrets so deeply that he called her personally to apologize. We show the viral clip from that interview — and Tapper’s public admission that he mishandled the story.

🎙️ We also feature an incredible takedown from Megyn Kelly, who blasts Tapper for enabling the “cover-up” and illustrates why trust in mainstream media is at an all-time low. Whether you agree with her or not, her critique reflects the public’s growing skepticism of legacy news outlets who seem to prioritize partisan narratives over transparency.

And while the Biden team is furiously pushing back — with Biden’s granddaughter Naomi calling the book “political fairy smut” — the revelations come at a time when Americans are already grappling with a much larger issue:

🧓 America’s leadership is old. Historically old. Dangerously old.

🔍 By contrast, the average head of state in major OECD countries is under 50, and legislative bodies around the world are getting younger — while ours continues to age. America’s elected leaders are, on average, two decades older than their global peers.

And yet, we already enforce age limits in countless other professions:

So why do we allow our most powerful elected leaders — those making decisions about war, national security, climate, and the economy — to serve well into their 70s, 80s, and beyond?

🇺🇸 The answer is clear: It’s time to pass the torch.
This isn't about disrespecting age — it’s about recognizing the speed and complexity of the 21st century and demanding leaders who are equipped to meet its challenges head-on.

💬 In today’s episode, we explore:

👇 Let us know in the comments: Do YOU support age limits in Congress and the White House? Is Jake Tapper a hypocrite — or just late to the truth? And what should voters demand going forward?
